FUTUREWEB participants shared SMART DISCUSSIONS about the ways the evolution of the World Wide Web will continue to impact the social, political and economic landscape… They explored the future of social networks, open source, the media, privacy, intellectual property, interactive design, public health, entrepreneurship, education, core values, Web analytics, print publishing, and more and imagined possibilities.

April 28-30, the Raleigh Convention Center was alive with action as Elon University’s Imagining the Internet Center hosted FutureWeb in conjunction with the WWW2010 conference. It featured leaders from Google, the Web Foundation, eBay, NTIA, the executive office of the US president, Facebook, Microsoft, EPIC, the Internet Society, Red Hat, Lulu, the Mozilla Foundation and more.

The mission of sponsoring organization IMAGINING THE INTERNET is to explore and provide insights into emerging network innovations, global development, dynamics, diffusion and governance. The Center is based at Elon University’s School of Communications and is a mostly volunteer effort financed by the university, with added support from the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project.
