THE SOCIAL MEDIA FUTURE ACADEMY
This FREE-admission, by-invitation-only event is geared to serving students and educators in the Raleigh-Durham area. Students and teachers invited are responsible for their own transportation.
The academy sessions will take Friday, April 30, at the Raleigh Convention Center. Registration opens at 9 a.m. Events will begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue through 3 p.m.
The active sessions at this event will be centered on discussion and instruction on leveraging the Web and social media for success today and tomorrow. Event leaders are ELON UNIVERSITY INTERACTIVE MEDIA MASTER’S PROGRAM graduate students and national Web experts on hand at the FutureWeb event.
Chris DiBona, the public programs and open source manager at Google, and Greg DeKoenigsberg, senior community architect at Red Hat. will deliver the two planned keynote talks. Session topics will include “Privacy, Hyperconnectivity and Online Etiquette”; “The Hyperconnected Family”; “Social Media and Managing your Personal Brand”; “The Digital Divide and Youth”; and – a session for educators – “Media in the Classroom.”
